The Granny Plush: Granny represents a calm, non-judgmental presence designed to provide comfort during moments of stress or reflection.

The "Worry Spot" Notepad: A dedicated space for your child to externalize their thoughts. Whether through writing or drawing, the act of putting a worry on paper is a powerful step in emotional regulation. After they use the notepad, they crinkle the page and put it in the pouch, as a representation of “shrinking, releasing and putting their worry to rest”.

The Booster Surprise: In Granny’s pouch their is a wooden ladybug sticker and a mantra card. This serves as a small reminder of how they can have control over their worries. Your child can place this sticker on a book, mirror, shelf etc.

The Letter from Granny Freckles: A message to help your child understand Granny’s role as a companion in their emotional journey.
The idea is that children can shrink their worries, release them into the pouch, and put them to rest. In the future, I plan to expand this concept with additional characters and learning tools, all centered around that same comforting presence.

A Heart for Comfort
Throughout my years working with children of all ages, I have seen the pain of many who carry significant worries and big emotions. Some children experience family struggles, trauma and other challenges that can leave them feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to turn. I wanted to create something that gives children a sense of comfort, safety and control. I was brainstorming characters and thought about activities I use in my sessions. I had a name in mind and with spellcheck, it was misspelled and read it as Granny Freckles. That was the instant that I knew that I needed to create this world based on our grandmothers, and to honor their support for us all. Who helps raise children when their parents are working? Who helps raise children when their parents are going through their own life struggles? You guessed it: Our Grandmothers. Granny Freckles embodies that role. She brings a warm and familiar presence into children's lives to help them manage their emotions. Granny lives in the humble hideaways with her family who also have skills they are working on. Each future character in the Humble Hideaways world will focus on a specific social-emotional skill. Granny Freckle’s specialty is helping children navigate anxiety by learning how to "put those worries to rest."
